How to be hypocritical without being hypocritical

Really? I mean, really? From Global Research:
Fifty oil, gas, coal, and automobile and chemical manufacturing companies and their trade associations formed the Global Change Coalition (GCC), with the help of public relations giant Burson-Marsteller. Its stated purpose was to sow doubt about scientific claims and forestall political efforts to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions. The GCC gave [...]

We love feedback

As cheesy as this may sound, I really find your focus, drive and attitude towards your company and this earth truly inspiring. Every time I hear from you or check out the site/blog, it is a real kick in the pants reminder for me to actually be proactive about the things I believe in. As a result I have had some tshirt design ideas pop into my brain which I think you will really like. I’m gonna have a crack at drawing them up (despite my APPALLING drawing skills) and send em through to you.

CO2 levels for 2008

CO2 marches higher

Why are mums so inspirational and amazing

This has nothing to do (directly) with snowboarding, only to do with humanity’s capacity for amazing action. Some of my posts have been a bit of a bummer of late, so thought I’d put something up a bit more light-hearted and inspirational.

Heartbreak followed by hope

It’s a risky thing for me to continue putting stuff like this out there. One of our readers (and a friend) today cautioned me about being too negative, as it risks causing people to shut off through desensitisation. I suppose that is a risk (and I have not really added all the positive stuff yet, oh yes, there IS a list! :) ) but reading stuff this abhorrent makes me angry and want to fight for change and I hope it has the same effect on you, as well as causing you engage and resist. We give tacit approval to every cruel action through indifference and inaction.

What do you want from life, really?

I started writing the below text over Christmas, but kind of lost my way, until I read Thomas Friedman’s op-ed in the New York Times the other day about how we all need to really re-assess what it is we really want, and need, from this Planet.
I won’t apologise for sounding like I am proselytising. [...]

To survive, we must change everything, now.

“When we look back, 2008 will be a momentous year in human history. Our children and grandchildren will ask us, ‘What was it like? What were you doing when it started to fall apart? What did you think? What did you do?’ Often in the middle of something momentous, we can’t see its significance. But for me there is no doubt: 2008 will be the marker — the year when ‘The Great Disruption’ began.”

It’s a great point. What will you be able to say when your grandkids ask “what did you do to help?”.

I sure as hell will be saying: “Everything I could.”

Heresy brand and focus clarity

I just sent out our latest mailing list mail below, when I was struck by something I wrote. It’s amazing the clarity and freshness you can get by losing all pretense and the veneer of a big corporation and just be passionate and honest about what you believe in.
