India disappearing under the ocean: video
Thanks for checking back, we really appreciate it.
Back in this post the other day, we mentioned how environmental refugeeism was now a grim reality.
At this link, you can see a National Geo video of how parts of India are sinking under rising seas. Hmmm.
From nature.com’s ClimateFeedback blog:
The consequences of a full demise would be rather unpleasant. A 5 metre rise in global sea level would flood lands and cities home to hundreds of millions of people. Add Greenland, whose ice cap is even more vulnerable to climate warming, and global sea levels could rise up to 12 metres: What this would mean for human civilization is everybody’s guess.
Now, before any sceptics jump on my back here by using that old denialist tactic “AH-HA! We DON’T KNOW!!!!!oneoneshift11″, I would like to refer them to the National Geo video for starters. We do know.
Although the Antarctic appears to follow a cycle of melting/freezing, we’re having a deep effect on the natural cycle, which could affect our ability to adapt. Read more here.
Kinda makes me being worried about being able to go snowboarding a little redundant at that point. When people are directly affected and lose their livelihoods and land, skiing and snowboarding kind of seems unimportant all of a sudden.
