Heresy brand and focus clarity
Thanks for checking back, we really appreciate it.
I just sent out our latest mailing list mail below, when I was struck by something I wrote. It’s amazing the clarity and freshness you can get by losing all pretense and the veneer of a big corporation and just be passionate and honest about what you believe in.
As I’ve been writing articles for the blog, I’ve realised how big a mess our Planet is in. It’s really focussed and clarified my mind as to what’s important and what’s not.
Not important: dealing with shops (ever!), tradeshows, team, marketing budgets, advertising, crap/meaningless products that don’t say/mean anything or agitate for change.
Important: quality products (that mean something), sweatshop free (and vegan if I can help it), bringing focus and awareness to indifferent/apathetic skiers, snowboarders and industry players about climate change and what it means for the snow season but more importantly for Earth. As a result, I’ve resolved to try not to produce a product/range EVER that doesn’t push this message: One Planet Only and Save Our Winter. That’s it. That’s Heresy. Because nothing else matters. So you won’t find us in shops, you won’t see us in trade shows, you won’t see us in mags, nor will you see us gangster-ing it up. You’ll see us riding powder, smiling in the park or just buttering everywhere with mates, having a drink and laughing, and relentlessly, ceaselessly and tirelessly, trying to Save Our Winter for our kids and future generations. Get on board or get out of our way.
March mailout.
Well, we’ve been a bit quiet on the mailing-list front of late, so here’s an update, but I’ve kept it short.
1. Blog move
We’ve moved our blog from http://heresysnowboarding.blogspot.com to http://heresysnowboarding.com/blog, which you can subscribe to in your RSS (google.com/reader) reader by adding http://feeds2.feedburner.com/heresysnowboarding/fbrss. The blog has ended up being the go-to repository for Heresy news, and one thing you’ll notice, is a very strong focus on environmental issues. The reasons for this are discussed in item 4 below. The blog is interactive, get on there and comment – don’t be afraid.2. Product Cull
After having a big think, I made the decision to cull thermals, tracksuit pants, beanies and scarves from our official range. You might still see limited numbers of these things (beanies in particular) but they’ll probably only be with reps, in limited numbers. The reason I made this choice was so that we could focus really strongly on producing rocking tees, hoods and boards. I never saw value, no matter how good the product, in just branding it. It’s never made sense to me. Unless the tee/board/whatever, makes a strong statement, we won’t be putting it out there (see item 4 below). Read more -> http://bit.ly/44jU83. Fundraiser/launch
We just finished our company launch in Fiss Austria, which was also a bushfire fundraiser. We raised around AUD$1500 (USD$950ish, EU750 or so) for the Red Cross’s Victorian bushfire appeal. A massive thanks to our new rep Jaye who spends her time in Falls Creek AU and in Europe. You can read the report and see photos here -> http://bit.ly/TjG1n4. Brand focus

We’re slowly implementing some changes to heresysnowboarding.com, go check it out for our new menu system (finally). There is a lot more to come including folding in of the blog to the site, ability for you guys to link video (from YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook etc) and so on. Big plans take time, so be patient (please).6. Other stuff
“We are Heresy” (whaaaa?), referral/loyalty scheme for the store, new products (super enviro focus), and best of all, our boards will be here soon. So jump on the blog (we’d love if you got involved and made comments) and website to check the news.

Hey I just want to introduce myself to everyone. My name is Kenneth.
I think this is a cool forum so I finally decided to make a post.
I thought about starting my own board but I‘m glad I found this one instead. Great Info!
